Get Your AC Ready Before Summer Hits Multan — What Actually Needs Checking
Every year we get the same wave of AC breakdown calls in the first real heat of the season — and almost every one of them traces back to something that was quietly building up since the AC was last switched off, not something that happened overnight. Here’s what’s actually worth checking before the season starts, not after it’s already 45°C.
The “Your Gas Is Low” Line Is Worth Being Skeptical Of
This is worth saying plainly: refrigerant gas doesn’t get consumed or expire the way a consumable does. A sealed AC system that isn’t leaking will hold the same gas level for years. When a technician tells you the gas is low on a unit that’s never shown a leak before, that claim is worth a genuine pressure test before you pay for a refill — not every “low gas” diagnosis is real, and a system that’s topped up without fixing an actual leak will just lose that gas again within weeks. We test pressure before recommending a refill for exactly this reason, not as a default upsell.
A Genuine Slow Leak Does Its Work All Winter
That said, a real leak is real. If your AC had a slow refrigerant leak last season, it doesn’t get worse while the unit is off — but it also doesn’t fix itself. A unit that was cooling “a bit weaker than it should” by the end of last summer will start this season already behind, and the first hot week will make that gap obvious fast. A pressure check before the season, not after the first breakdown, is the only way to catch this while it’s still a small, cheap fix.
Filters and Coils Collect a Full Season of Multan Dust Even When the AC Is Off
Multan’s dust doesn’t take a break in winter. An AC that sat unused for months still has its coils and filters exposed to the same dusty air, and a unit that starts the summer with a dust-clogged coil has to work harder from day one — which is exactly the pattern behind the “AC running constantly but not cooling much” complaints we see every April.
Electrical Connections Loosen Slightly With Every Season of Heat Cycling
The same voltage fluctuation and thermal expansion that causes breaker trips during peak summer also puts gradual strain on electrical connections at the AC’s distribution point — even when it’s off, the connections that carried last summer’s load can loosen slightly over months. A unit with a marginal connection often runs fine at first and then trips a breaker on the first genuinely hot day, when the load finally exceeds what the loose connection can carry.
What Actually Helps Before the Season Starts
- Ask for a pressure test before agreeing to a gas refill — a real leak shows up on the gauge, a sales pitch doesn’t.
- Coil and filter cleaning, done properly rather than a quick wipe.
- A check of the electrical connection at the outdoor unit and breaker, especially on units more than a couple of years old.
- Getting this done in March or early April, ahead of the first real heat wave, not during it.
We do this as a pre-season check specifically, not folded into a repair call after something’s already gone wrong — our AC service in Multan covers general service, repair, installation and gas refilling, all with the same fixed-price, no-advance-payment approach as every other visit.
