Weak Water Pressure in Your Multan Home? It’s Probably Not What You Think
Weak tap water is one of the most common complaints we hear across Multan, and it almost always gets blamed on the same thing: “the pipes must be failing.” In most homes we’ve actually inspected, that’s not what’s going on. Here’s what’s really behind it, and how to tell which fix you actually need.
The Most Common Cause: Tank Height, Not Failing Pipes
Multan has a lot of older gravity-fed housing societies, where water pressure depends entirely on how high the overhead tank sits relative to the taps it’s feeding. If the tank isn’t high enough above a particular floor or fixture, every tap on that line will run weak — no matter how new or clean the pipes are. Replacing pipework in this situation doesn’t fix anything, because the pipes were never the problem.
We check this with a pressure gauge at the supply line before touching anything. If the pressure reading matches what the tank height would predict, the fix is adjusting the tank’s supply configuration, not replacing plumbing.
When It Actually Is the Tank
Multan’s dust and hard water cause sediment to build up in both cement and plastic water tanks faster than in cleaner-water cities. A tank that hasn’t been cleaned in over a year can genuinely restrict flow, and it’s a completely different fix from a tank height issue — a clean rather than a plumbing job.
When It’s a Geyser Problem, Not a Plumbing One
If it’s specifically your hot water that’s weak while cold water runs fine, the issue is usually in the geyser’s supply line or the unit itself, not your home’s general plumbing. Sediment buildup inside a geyser’s heating element restricts flow in a way that only shows up on the hot side — which is easy to mistake for a wider pressure problem if you’re only testing the shower.
How to Tell Which One You Have
- Weak on every tap, every floor, all the time → likely tank height or a tank that needs cleaning.
- Weak only on upper floors → almost always tank height relative to that floor.
- Weak only on hot water, cold is fine → likely the geyser, not the plumbing.
- Sudden drop after months of normal pressure → worth checking for a blockage or leak, which does need an actual plumbing inspection.
We check the actual cause with a pressure gauge before recommending any fix — our plumbing service in Multan covers pipe, tank configuration, and pressure diagnosis, and if it turns out to be hot-water specific, our geyser service handles that side, both with the same fixed-price, no-advance-payment approach.
